Learn To Skate
The CanSkate and Preschool Learn to Skate programs teach skating fundamentals for use by recreational, hockey, ringette or figure skaters. Only skaters and coaches are allowed on the ice. All skaters must wear a CSA approved hockey/skating helmet and gloves.
Two sessions are offered:
- Fall: week of September 9 2013 – week of December 16 2013
- Winter: week of January 6, 2014 – week of March 24, 2014
Star Skate Figure Skate
STARSkate offers opportunities for skaters of all ages to develop fundamental figure skating skills in the areas of ice dance, skating skills, free skate and interpretive skating. Unique in Canada, this program teaches figure skating skills in a group and/or private lesson format in a progressive and sequential manner and includes specifically designed awards and incentives. Skaters have the opportunity to take Skate Canada Tests through a nationally standardized testing system. Unforunately due to lack of enrollment Synchronized Skating has been cancelled for 2013-2014 season. We are continuing to look for skaters to start the program again for next season. If you are interested in the program, please contact Kate Malcolm at 905-985-6155.
Synchronized skating is a specialized discipline of skating involving groups of twelve or more skaters performing various group formations and maneuvers. The objective is for the team to perform as one unit executing circles, blocks, lines, wheels and intersections in unison to the music, while demonstrating quality edges, power and flow
Many of our synchro costumes from prior seasons are available for rent, with some of them being available for a quantity purchase. These make excellent dresses for use with dance or other tests on test days, for individual competition use, for ice shows, or for other synchro teams. PPSC hosts youth dances for Grades 4 – 8 once per month. Dances are held Friday night from 7:00 to 10:00 p.m. at the
Scugog Community Centre in Port Perry. Admission is $8, and a Snack Bar is also available.
